The use of BMX pegs have really come a long way since their introduction into BMX. They were originally intended for the early days of flatland. Which then soon evolved into early ramp and street use. These days they’re used in so many incredible ways!
Along with the progression of the use of pegs, the progression of the pegs themselves has also evolved. With a few different options available when it comes to getting a set we wanted to put together this helpful guide on making the best choice for your riding style.
NYLON/PLASTIC PEGS
Plastic pegs are the most popular choice these days which also means you have a tonne of options when it comes to them. They’re popular because of the lightweight of them along with the smooth grinding capabilities. Generally used by street riders but you'll also find them being used by transtion riders that enjoy grinding coping.
One other thing to take into account is that some plastic pegs have an Alloy core and some have a CrMo core. Obviously Alloy core's make for a lighter peg where as CrMo will be a little more long lasting and generally you'll find the diameter of the peg being a little slimmer when CrMo is used.
You can find a wide variety of replacement sleeves for more plastic pegs as well, just make sure you pick the right sleeve for your current pegs. If you're not sure feel free to contact us.

ALLOY PEGS
You’ll find Alloy pegs still being used by quite few park riders because of them still being lightweight but giving you more grip for particular deck combo’s on the coping compared to plastic pegs. If you are generally riding street I wouldn't reccommend the use of Alloy pegs because they won't gind that great and will wear down quicker than you want.
You'll also find Alloy pegs used within the Flatland scene such as the Colony Jam Circle pegs because they need knurling on their pegs which is best done with Alloy.

CRMO PEGS
CrMo pegs are the great allrounder when it came to pegs because you can use them on everything put in front of you. These days they’re generally used by some street riders because they can be a lot more durable compared to plastic however they’re heavier and on some surfaces such as Alloy rails they don’t grind as good.
